IRC Chat NOW

The best way to join s in Chat is to use a program like mIRC. For people who would like to test the waters first or are not able to install software, we provide a few suggestions for joining us from a web site.

This guide explains how to use the IRC Chat NOW link from the Tweedy-Chat website. Links are also provided to a similar tool on the Blitzed site for those who have difficulty connecting from the Tweedy site.

Tweedy-Chat

  1. Click on IRC Chat NOW on the menu
  2. The IRC window will load. It is safe to run when prompted
  3. The IRC connection will be established. This can take a number of minutes.
  4. Once the connection is made, the script will automatically join the #tweedybookguy chatroom
  5. Click in the text area near the bottom and type
  6. You can change your nickname by clicking in the box in the lower right and typing the new name (simple and short is best)
  7. Tweedies in the chatroom will be very happy to help you with anything else. They love to show the ropes to new friends.

Troubleshooting

If you seem to connect then are told your nickname is not legal (or something similar) you will need to log in to the Tweedy-Chat site first. Its free and easy.

If you still have problems or can't even connect try using either the Quick Chat or the the Webchat at Blitzed (www.blitzed.org). Pollux has created some guides to help with using the Blitzed version.
